Behind Gothica Lunae
For those who were never particularly interested in fitting in.
Hello, I'm Jayne, the person behind Gothica Lunae.
Gothica Lunae grew from my love of things that are a little different - gothic, witchy, vintage, quirky, sometimes dark and occasionally just a bit strange.
Basically all the good stuff.
I've always been drawn to designs with personality. The sort of thing you spot across the room and immediately think, I need that.
And that is really where Gothica Lunae began.

A Little Bit Different
I didn't want to create another shop filled with things you could find everywhere else.
I wanted Gothica Lunae to feel like somewhere you could wander into and never be quite sure what you were going to discover. A strange little illustration. A witch with attitude. A gothic print. A notebook that's far too nice to actually write in. Or a T-shirt that makes somebody stop and look twice.
Some designs are dark and mysterious. Some are vintage. Some are funny. And some simply exist because the idea popped into my head and refused to leave.
There aren't many rules here.
If it's unusual, interesting or makes me smile, it probably belongs in Gothica Lunae.
The Person Behind the Moon
Gothica Lunae isn't a huge company with a design department hidden away somewhere. It's me.
I'm a mum to three grown-up children, a writer, a lifelong collector of ideas and someone who still gets ridiculously excited when a new design finally looks exactly as I imagined it.
Starting Gothica Lunae has given me somewhere to put all those ideas. And there are rather a lot of them.
I'm constantly experimenting with new designs and turning them into things I'd genuinely want to own myself — prints, cards, notebooks, bags, clothing and whatever else catches my imagination next.
And Then There's Lione....
No introduction to Gothica Lunae would be complete without mentioning my sausage dog, Lionel.
He contributes absolutely nothing to the creative process, regularly interrupts it and considers anything arriving in a cardboard box to be his personal property.
Naturally, he believes he's in charge.
I haven't had the heart to tell him otherwise.
